  1. In Time

It’s been a while since I’ve been to the movies… which means it’s been a while since I’ve written a review. If you haven’t guessed already, Review incoming in 3… 2…

I hate going to the cinema with low expectations of a movie. It seems kind of pointless to be going to see a movie you expect to suck, and it becomes hard to judge a movie fairly. Maybe the movie was just mediocre but you expected it to be shit, so that’s an improvement, right?

I have a bit of an obsession with time based movies, so I may have been biased from the beginning. I didn’t exactly have *low* expectations of ‘In Time’… but I did expect it to be a cheap action movie that didn’t extend much beyond the basic concept that Time is a currency.

    …I was wrong.

In Time is actually a well thought out thriller. The characters are real and there was a nice attention to finer details. The concept was quite far from reality, but it was explained with enough back story to be believable without spending a long time doing so …and dare I say it, I’m actually quite impressed by Justin Timberlake these days.

I don’t want to spoil a great movie, and I realise this is becoming more about avoiding the pitfalls of science fiction movies, but I guess that’s what really impressed me about a movie that I was sure was going to fall victim to them. Even the various time puns were well done, from the geeky “timing out” to the more relaxed “take 5 minutes”.

I definitely enjoyed it, I would definitely recommend it, and as movies go, ‘In Time’ is definitely time well spent.
